The first week of cakes class came and went like the snap of a fingers! While it was fun, this class is also a lot harder then most of the other classes we've had in the past. That could be because while we're baking cakes, we're also assembling and making icings. Still, I had fun and am looking forwards to the next two weeks.


Black Forest Cake; a chocolate cake with whipped cream and cherry filling. This cake was probably my best of the week.


Another view of the top. Yes, those are pieces of shaved chocolate in the center and on the sides.


Vanilla cake with French buttercream and strawberry jam in the center.


Harlequin Roll, which is white cake rolled with white and chocolate icing and then covered with a chocolate glaze.


Here's the inside. See the two different icings?


Triangle cake; basically a white cake with chocolate icing on the inside and then glazed with chocolate on the outside. It's garnished with a shell border.


Here's the inside. Believe me, it looked better before a piece was swiped.


Almond Pound Cake.


Last, but not least, Boston Cream Pie Cake! Very rummy but yummy.
